Neural Circuit Assembly: Economically Wired by a Single Cadherin
نویسندگان
چکیده
Neurons are thought to acquire shapes and configurations consistent with the wiring optimization principle. A new study sheds light on the underlying molecular mechanisms by demonstrating that N-cadherin-mediated differential adhesion determines relative neurite positioning in developing columnar synaptic modules.

Bhlhb5 and Prdm8 Form a Repressor Complex Involved in Neuronal Circuit Assembly
Although transcription factors that repress gene expression play critical roles in nervous system development, their mechanism of action remains to be understood. Here, we report that the Olig-related transcription factor Bhlhb5 (also known as Bhlhe22) forms a repressor complex with the PR/SET domain protein, Prdm8. We find that Bhlhb5 binds to sequence-specific DNA elements and then recruits P...
متن کاملSingle-Cell Identity Generated by Combinatorial Homophilic Interactions between α, β, and γ Protocadherins
Individual mammalian neurons stochastically express distinct repertoires of α, β, and γ protocadherin (Pcdh) proteins, which function in neural circuit assembly. We report that all three subfamilies of clustered Pcdhs can engage in specific homophilic interactions, that cell surface delivery of Pcdhα isoforms requires cis interactions with other Pcdhs, and that the extracellular cadherin domain...

A high accurate and low-voltage analog CMOS current divider which operates with a single power supply voltage is designed in 0.18µm CMOS standard technology. The proposed divider uses a differential amplifier and transistor in triode region in order to perform the division. The proposed divider is modeled with neural network while TLBO algorithm is used to optimize it. The proposed optimiza...

متن کاملN- and E-cadherins in Xenopus are specifically required in the neural and non-neural ectoderm, respectively, for F-actin assembly and morphogenetic movements.
Transmembrane cadherins are calcium-dependent intercellular adhesion molecules. Recently, they have also been shown to be sites of actin assembly during adhesive contact formation. However, the roles of actin assembly on transmembrane cadherins during development are not fully understood. We show here, using the developing ectoderm of the Xenopus embryo as a model, that F-actin assembly is a pr...
